WebLUIS Version 3 Changes

 

• The new computer is significantly faster than the old one. Response time should be much better.
• The Web Browser's BACK button works most of the time. While still a good idea to learn and use system commands for navigating screens, the intent for a more "stateless" system so that the BACK button can be used.

• The COMMAND OPTIONS list has been added for consistency with other WebLUIS screens.

• Search term(s) retrieving no results gets a dialog box pop up that indicates "No Matches Found". Click "OK" to continue.
• RESULTS LIST screens always have 25 records listed (i.e. when a search retrieves at least that many results).
• The Results List display now includes a direct link to the "Electronic Copy" in databases having links to full text. There is no need to go to the record and scroll to the bottom to locate the link.
• There is no "Type a Command" entry box at the bottom of each screen.
• New searches may only be entered from a BASIC, ADVANCED, or COMMAND search form
• PROBLEM: The command to MARK a range of records (e.g. MARK 1-10, 13, 15-20) function has been lost. Records can only be MARKed one at a time. FCLA is exploring ways to replace this important function.
• A "Jump" box moves FORWARD in a long Results List by a specified number of records.

• Only the LONG VIEW is available. BRIEF records may still be printed or sent to an e-mail address.
• The commands "At Your Library?" and "At any SUS Lib?" have several changes:
• RETURN to the record view to display other citation records or view the Results List again is no longer needed.
• When an "At Your Library?" view is displayed, the red arrows move to the next or previous records. The location/call number information will be present if available.

• LAST SEARCH (Revise) -- the last search form now appears instead of the "Classic" LUIS command syntax.
• (SEARCH) HISTORY (Located on Toolbar)
• Clicking on a search now re-displays the previous search on its original form to edit or re-do the search.
• Combine previous searches by using check-boxes and selecting AND, OR, NOT.
• PRINT MARKED -- At the moment, the SAVE option isn't indicated. But it is possible to SAVE the PRINT screen.
• ILL REQUEST -- the form is now one long screen instead of a series of screens as in the "Classic" LUIS and current WebLUIS version.
