| Introduction and Background: With Format Integration, all tags are legal for use in all formats, and items may be coded for multiple formats as appropriate. For example, a computer file title that is serial in nature will still be cataloged with computer file fields, but it will have an 006 added to the record with serial codes. This record will then be retrievable whether we limit the search to the computer fields or to the serial format. However, in LUIS we must still specify what tags will display in the public view. And we are still restricted to 45 labels for all the tags displaying in each format. With this background in mind, we developed some principles to guide our recommendations:
