- Break, then working lunch: 12:00 - 12:15
- Jim Corey: 12:15 - 1:15
- Overview of the environment in which we are working
- What is available in terms of New Systems
- General discussion of "viable" vendors
- Status of the technology we are seeking (what can be expected in terms of
technical capability
- Laws and politics in Florida
- Our options in terms of process to be followed in reaching conclusions
- What resources does the task force need: 1:15 - 1:45
- Literature survey
- Input from member libraries (staff in all functional areas)
- Data from the field - other libraries and library consorti
- Group discussion of process to be followed: 1:45 - 2:15
- Establishing selection criteria
- Gathering information from/about vendors
- Organizing/dividing the work (think of the types of tasks you would like to undertake
- Discussion of a time line to be followed: 2:15 - 2:30
- Establish firm criteria - may require obtaining input from the field (survey of library
staff)
- Document state requirements (laws/statutes)
- Identify acceptable vendors - develop a list of those which meet criteria
- Conduct initial assessment of vendors - narrow the list
- Obtain information from the field - other libraries and library consortia (survey
and/or visit similar consortia -
