Concluding Observations - Safety - Licensing

• Licensing a system is safer if we pick a leading vendor (but remember CLSI)

• Safer for the SUS libraries because:

  • it’s mainstream
  • if something goes sour, have other libraries in same situation
  • it provides a forum for sharing ideas and problems

• Safer for FCLA because:

  • no pressure to keep up with the LMS market
  • can focus on digital library and A&I databases
  • if anything goes wrong with the LMS, it’s the vendor’s fault
