System Workarounds

Over time, your library may have developed ways to use NOTIS to create notes, reminders, and other mechanisms to help staff perform their work. These workarounds may be stored in:
  1. Non-MARC notes fields or fixed-length fields. (examples)
  2. Locally-defined MARC21 fields. (examples)
  3. "Standard" MARC21 fields. (examples)
If the workarounds you've created are not part of the general NOTIS functionality, you will need to:
  1. Identify the specific workaround you've created, noting the field or MARC tag used, and listing NOTIS numbers of examples.
  2. Describe the function that is created by using this workaround.
  3. Estimate the number of records that contain this workaround.
The new system may use different mechanisms to accomplish the same tasks, or may not be able to accommodate these workarounds when data is migrated.
