HTML versions of articles

Until recently Web search services did not index PDF files, the primary form in which Florida Entomologist articles are posted. To facilitate retrieval and indexing by search services, the full text of each article, including figure legends, tables, references, and Spanish abstracts, was posted as an HTML file.

When a search service indexed a Florida Entomologist article on the basis of its HTML file, the link was to that file, which lacked the formatting and illustrations of the original article. However, a hyperlink at the beginning of the HTML file led directly to the corresponding PDF file.

To view the HTML file of any article published from March 1994 through December 2001, use the links below to go to the list of files for the appropriate issue. Then click on the file name of the article you seek. (The file name shows the volume of the issue and the first page of the article.)

Though not listed below, HTML files continued to be posted for all articles through the September 2002 issue. This had to be done because they were needed to access the articles found by full-text searches of Florida Entomologist using the search engine on the Florida Entomological Society's web site. These files can be viewed by constructing their file names from their volume numbers and first pages. For example, the HTML file for an article starting on page 317 of vol. 85 is named fe85p317.html and its URL is http://www.fcla.edu/FlaEnt/fe85p317.html. (NOTE: For most issues, .htm was used as the extension for HTML files; for the rest of the issues, .html was used. There is no pattern, but if one extension doesn't work the other should.]
