LUIS is the collective name for the online library catalogs of the State University System (SUS) of Florida. One LUIS catalog exists for each of the ten universities, which are:
| Forida A&M University | University of Central Florida |
| Florida Atlantic University | University of Florida |
| Florida Gulf Coast University | Florida International University |
| University of North Florida | Florida State University |
| University of South Florida | University of West Florida |
You may connect to LUIS via TN3270. TN3270 is a special type of Telnet that allows you to connect your computer to a remote computer host and use your computer as if it were a terminal to run programs or applications on that remote computer.
LUIS runs under the NOTIS software marketed by Ameritech Library Services (Evanston, IL). The software runs on an IBM ES/9000-831 computer owned and operated by the Northeast Regional Data Center (NERDC) in Gainesville, Florida. The Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA) in Gainesville maintains and enhances NOTIS for the SUS.
Computer time for searching LUIS is paid for by FCLA. Any telecommunications fees incurred are the responsibility of the user.
Some commercial telnet software may have TN3270 connection capability. The telnet software that comes with Windows does not. You will need to obtain TN3270 software from the internet.
Please note that these are general instructions not using any specific application. However, the LUIS logon screen will be the same once connected.
When you are finished, sign off of LUIS returning to the LUIS Main Menu:
