Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) have altered the graduate research experience for both students and for the university organizations that support and sustain ETD programs. Several of Florida's state universities already have active ETD programs, and other universities in the state are considering ETD pilot projects. Please note the following free training opportunity, which should be of significant interest to libraries, graduate schools, and other departments of Florida's state universities. WHAT: Workshop "Starting and Sustaining Successful Electronic Thesis and Dissertation (ETD) Programs" WHO: Key stakeholders are invited from universities of Florida's State University System, including graduate school administrators, librarians, and information technologists. Representatives of university graduate student organizations are also welcome to attend. ATTENDANCE IS LIMITED TO 75 and pre-registration is required. WHY: Those considering starting ETD programs can learn from the experiences of those have already have done so. Those who already have ETD programs can share experiences and best practices with each other. WHEN: Monday, March 26, 2007, 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM HOW: A full-day program of moderated panels and individual speakers will help ensure all those considering or already running ETD programs are aware of key issues, external developments in the wider world of ETDs, best practices and local practices at each of the ETD programs in operation among Florida's SUS universities. Attendees will have opportunities to interact with their peers from other campuses statewide, and to join group discussions about various aspects of ETD programs. Attendees will attend lunch "on your own" but will have a variety of choices close to the workshop site. REGISTRATION: To register, please email Chuck Thomas . Registration will end March 12, 2006, but this workshop is expected to fill quickly. Include the name, title, departmental affiliation, and email address for each registrant. Please note the limit of 75 attendees, from universities that are part of Florida's State University System.
